ARTIST'S NOTES
"Interstate", "The Hedonistic Island", and "Valediction" were composed, constructed, performed, programmed and produced by Christian H. Sötemann in Berlin, Germany.

cryptic scenery was formed in late 1994 by Christian H. Sötemann and has existed both in group and solo line-ups. The music of cryptic scenery focuses on hypnotic atmospheres and has covered styles like Ambient, Electronic Rock, New/Dark Wave, Minimalism and Drone. Over the years, there have been many releases on CD, CD-R, vinyl, tape, or digitally, on a number of underground labels. cryptic scenery has also performed live in Germany, Denmark, Norway, the Czech Republic and Austria.

LABEL NOTES
Having issued Christian H. Sötemann's work on various labels and formats for almost 15 years, I'm glad to finally do a digital-only release for him – Metaphysical Digital's preantepenultimate statement of 2015. The bombastic, driving title track recalls John Foxx's "Metamatic" slightly – or, perhaps, Add N to (X), in a roundabout sort of way. It's definitely part of cryptic scenery's recent electronic can(n)on, yet with classic guitar detonations. Furthermore, you get a pair of old-school-yet-timeless instrumental rhythmic/melodic-wave beauties here, unlike anything we've heard from cryptic scenery before!

A cassette version of cryptic scenery's "Isolation & Surveillance" will be out on Metaphysical Circuits soon; none of these three tracks are on it.
